The 2013 election produced a new Regional Vice Governor for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Haroun Alrashid A. Lucman, Jr. took his oath to office following his success in the 2013 election, thus taking over said position in the beginning of July this year. He was welcomed by the staff of Hadja Bainon G. Karon and several of his constituents.

Preparations were made several days before the formal turn over ceremony.


The ORVG- ARMM prepared the office for the arrival and formal turning over to the new RVG.


A short meeting with the Karon Staff took place, followed by a small gathering and lunch as a way of officially handing over the entire office to VG Lucman.


  1. II.                  RAMADHAN ACTIVITIES

  1. III.                INTER- FAITH DIALOGUE


The Inter- Faith Dialogue was conducted prior to the formal beginning of the Ramadhan Season. This was a way of opening the doors to better understanding its celebration and meaning for our Muslim brothers and sisters.


The first day of the dialogue opened with the welcoming of guests and participants, as well as registration and a short program. The host agency provided the participants with their meals and snacks, and kits to used for the activity inclusive of reading and writing materials.


  1. IV.                IFTHAR

Venue: Blue Mosque, ORG Compound, Cotabato City


The ORVG- ARMM has donated meals for the several Muslims who devoted their day fasting in the name of Ramadhan.


The ORVG- ARMM prepared several pack lunches and drinks through catering services to be served at meal time. The meals were delivered and were properly distributed to many mass attendees.

They were also provided with drinks such as water and coffee.


  1. V.                  KULINTANG COMPETITION

Venue: ORG Compound, Cotabato City


The Kulintang is an ancient Muslim Musical Instrument that still exists at present and still serves its purpose for any celebration, to give the people a taste of authentic Muslim Culture through music.


The activity was made possible through preparations and coordination with the Bureau of Cultural Heritage (BCH)- ARMM, who hosted several of the Ramadhan activities for several years. Catering services, purchasing of materials for decorations, and program drafting were done days before the implementation.


The activity was held at night, just in time for the serving of meals for the guests and ORVG- ARMM Staff.

The activity was graced by several supporters of the Preservation of Muslim Culture and competitors from different parts of the region.


  1. VI.                QU’ RAN READING COMPETITION

Venue: ORG Compound, Cotabato City


The Qu’ran reading competition has contributed greatly to the celebration of Fasting for many years now, and has opened a chance for Muslims to showcase their know- how in terms of reading flawlessly verses from the Holy Qu’ ran.


Preparations included coordination with BCH- ARMM and personalities who would serve as judges. Catering Services were also acquired as well as dissemination of information regarding the activity.


The one- night activity was participated by children and adults who have spent so much time learning the reading and has devoted efforts to give the spectators something to look forward to and worth- watching.


Guests and audiences were amazed by the talents they have witnessed, leaving the judges startled.


  1. VII.              ORVG-ARMM NIGHT


Date:     07 2013


Venue: ORVG- ARMM Ground, ORG Compound, Cotabato City


The activity was made as a way of reaching out to the new set of ORVG- ARMM Employees, thus developing a good working relationship with one another.


Preparations included catering services, prizes, decorations, and consultation with RVG Lucman.


During the activity, ORVG- ARMM Employees were treated to a feast and were able to participate in various parlor games and trivia. Prizes were given to them as a sign of gratitude for their participation and performance in both the office and other activities.


  1. VIII.            SPORTS ACTIVITIES (fun- run and badminton)

Venue: ORG Compound, Cotabato City


Sports activities were opened for agencies interested in participating in the festivities of the Ramadhan Celebration. The ORVG personnel were able to join the Fun- run and Badminton Competition, and provided with their registration fees and official uniform. Sports activities were conducted at different nights during the Season.


The ORVG also participated in the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Anniversary sports feast in the ARMM.


  1. IX.                MEDICAL MISSION


Some 200 residents of Ganassi, Lanao del Sur have availed of Medical Services conducted by the Office of the Regional Vice Governor, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ORVG-ARMM) in partnership with the Department of Health, ARMM, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on August 31. 2013.


Regional Vice Governor Haroun Alrashid A. Lucman, Jr. Personally manned the activities. This is composed of Medical Check-ups, Flu and Pneumococcal Vaccination, Circumcisions, Provision of Medicines, and Haircutting.


  1. X.                  COASTAL CLEAN-UP DRIVE


The Office of the Regional Vice Governor conducted Coastal Clean-up Drive at Ganassi, Lanao del Sur on August 31, 2013. The residents along with the LGUs concerned had participated for the said activity.




On October 18, 2013, ORVG has extended Hygiene Kits to the fire victims in Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.




  • Marawi City/Lanao del Sur


                The Office of the Regional Vice Governor, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ORVG-ARMM) conducted an “ECO Watch: Bridging the Youth with the Environment” on November 14-, 15, and 16, 2013 held at Ayala Resort Hotel, Marawi City.


The said activity was attended by selected tertiary students from different Colleges/schools in the City of Marawi and the province of Lanao del Sur, and from Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in the Autonomous Region.


On the 3rd day of the activity (morning of November 16), a clean-up drive and Tree Planting in the City of Marawi were done.


  • Maguindanao

The Office of the Regional Vice Governor, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ORVG-ARMM) will be holding an “ECO Watch: Bridging the Youth with the Environment” on December 17, 18, and 19, 2013 to be held at JP Garden Hotel and Convention Hall, Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.


The said activity will be attended by selected tertiary students from different schools in the City of Cotabato, the province of Maguindanao, and from Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). On the 1st and 2nd day, Environmental-Issues Experts will be giving lectures. On the 3rd day, there will be a coastal clean-up drive and Tree Panting (Mangrove) at Parang, Maguindanao.
